To honour the 148th Birth Anniversary of Thanthai Periyar, PSRPI presents the Periyar Walk / Periyar Run—a monumental movement honouring history's most tireless reformer. Thanthai Periyar's life is defined by an unprecedented, relentless crusade for social reform: traveling over 1,312,000 kilometres (approx. 13.12 lakh km)—a distance equivalent to circling the globe 33 times or traveling to the Moon and back nearly 3 times. Around 8,600 days of travelling, including 39 international trips, he addressed over 10,700 public gatherings. His speeches totalled 21,400 hours (1,284,300 minutes)—meaning if his addresses played back-to-back without a single pause, his voice would echo continuously for 2 years, 5 months, and 11 days.
He walked the distance and spoke without pause to pave our path for an egalitarian society; today, we lace up our shoes to keep his revolution moving.
